Primary care that talks to the rest of your care

Eastern Oklahoma Wellness & Chiropractic Center provides primary care services to adults over the age of 18. That covers the ordinary work of a primary care practice: wellness checks, lab work, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and ongoing management of the things that need watching over years rather than weeks.

What is unusual is the setting. Primary care here sits in the same clinic as the chiropractic practice, run by our nurse practitioner. If your back has not settled and it turns out your thyroid is off, your vitamin D is on the floor or your sleep is broken, the person who investigates that is down the hall from the person adjusting you.

The approach is preventive where it can be. Consistent check-ups, attention to diet and activity, and catching a trend in your bloodwork early all do more for the next twenty years than treating each problem as it arrives.

What primary care here covers

Annual and periodic wellness visits, laboratory work and interpretation, diagnosis and treatment of everyday illness, management of ongoing conditions, and referral onward when something needs a specialist. We also handle the wellness services that patients usually have to go somewhere separate for, including hormone optimization, weight management, seasonal allergy treatment and wellness injections.

Why we start with the bloodwork

A great deal of what patients describe as feeling generally awful has a measurable cause. Persistent fatigue, brain fog, poor sleep, low mood, weight that will not shift and aching that does not track with any injury are all symptoms that overlap heavily between thyroid dysfunction, low B12, vitamin D deficiency, anaemia, blood sugar problems and hormone decline. Guessing between them is not productive. Testing is.

So the first step for most new patients is a proper panel and a conversation about what it shows, rather than a prescription aimed at the loudest symptom.

Working alongside chiropractic care

Long-running musculoskeletal pain rarely has a single cause. Sleep quality, inflammation, body weight through the lumbar spine, nutritional status and hormonal changes all influence how a back behaves and how fast it recovers. In most settings those are separate appointments at separate practices that never quite join up.

Here they do not have to. A patient being treated for long-standing pain can have the medical side investigated at the same time, and the two providers are looking at the same person rather than two halves of one.

Knowing when to refer

Primary care includes recognising the limits of primary care. Chest pain that needs a cardiologist, a suspicious finding that needs imaging or a biopsy, a condition that needs an endocrinologist or a surgeon: these get referred rather than managed at the edge of scope. If you need something we do not provide, we will say so and help you get to the right place.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publishes clear guidance on which preventive screenings adults should have and when.

What to expect from an appointment

A first visit is longer than a follow-up because it covers your history properly: what you have been diagnosed with, what you take, what you have tried, what runs in your family and what your day actually looks like. Bring the bottles or a photographed list of your medications and supplements, since dosage matters and few people remember it accurately.

You will usually leave with a lab order rather than a prescription. Results are reviewed with you rather than sent as a set of numbers with a note saying normal. Anything outside range gets explained, and so does anything inside range that is drifting in a direction worth watching.

Ongoing conditions

Conditions like high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, prediabetes and thyroid disease are managed over years, which means the value is in consistency rather than in any single visit. Regular review, repeat testing at sensible intervals and adjusting treatment when the numbers move is the whole of it. Patients who come in twice a year do considerably better than patients who come in when something has gone wrong.

Becoming a patient

No referral is needed. Call 918-615-3433 to book a primary care appointment in Tulsa, and bring a list of your current medications and supplements, any recent lab results and a note of what you actually want addressed.

The information on this site is general and is not medical advice. It does not replace a consultation with a licensed provider. Individual results vary.
